Dungbeetle Activities include:

Full day tours into Addo Elephant National Park (Big 5) with qualified game guides).
Hiking over the famous Alexandria Dune Fields.
Elephant Back Riding. Be in the company of 4 young elephants. They have been trained on the reward system: when they carry out an instruction well, they are rewarded with food. Interact with them yourself by riding them and feeding them, then you watch their trainer put them through their paces. Enjoy these intelligent animals. Only half an hour away from the lodge on excellent roads.
Afternoon and evening safaris on private game reserves. Lion sightings almost guaranteed!
Ferry rides on the Sundays River.
Canoeing & Birding.

Sundays River

With its source deep in the mountains of the Karoo, the Sundays River is navigable for over 24km. Dungbeetle River Lodge has its own jetty for fishing and boating enthusiasts. The lodge has several canoes for your enjoyment. A boat port is available, for those people who have their own boat.

Bicycles are made available, for those who enjoy the outdoors. Over 200 bird species have been identified in this area, and trips up the river can be arranged for twitchers.

Coastal Dune Fields

Dungbeetle River Lodge is situated alongside the largest coastal sand dune field in the southern hemisphere. Formed almost 65 000 years ago, the Woody Cape / Alexandria Dune fields cover the 3km between Dungbeetle River Lodge and the Indian Ocean. The seemingly endless and beautiful dunes make for excellent hiking to the sea.
